Movie reel shipping canister manufactured by Goldberg Bros of Denver, Colorado for MGM Studios. An authentic and super cool piece of Hollywood history from the golden era of film. Octagonal shape 16" x 16" x 9", heavy metal construction and weighs in at a hefty 18 lbs. This beauty was built to stand up to any abuse the postal service could inflict. Hinges and latch mechanism fully intact and functional. Gunmetal grey in color with numerous surface scratches, oxidation and remnants of paper shipping labels, exactly what you'd expect from a film container wandering for decades from theater to theater. "MGM", "Goldberg Bros" and other stuff clearly embossed on the box. MGM was a major player back in the day, so it's fun to imagine the titles this might have delivered: "Ben Hur"? "Wizard of Oz"? Most certainly a hundred films no one remembers. Anyway, a super item of entertainment history with a great industrial look that would be a conversation starter in someones home media center. Might be a base for a pretty slick table.
